Writer For TM2
I've been a reader of the MG's Metaverse Messenger for a while now, and when I saw in the forums that there was a TG version coming out, i started reading those as well. In the first issue of the TM2, I had an article on me/a group i'd set up on the front page. The other day i was scrolling through the forums (as normal) and found this thread. I jumped at the chance to be a writer, applied, and i 'got the job' :) I look forward to writing in the TM2! It was my previous post in this blog on 'Remember, it's just a game. Or is it?that got me the position, i used it as my sample piece of writing. Keep an eye out for articles by me!

Forum MOD.
Yesterday, Blue posted in the TSL forums letting everyone know that me and Semaj are now forum moderators! With my post count coming up to 1000, I've realised how much I like being part of the forums.

GK Party Interview
Storm asked me to take part in an interview about the party he hosted the other day. Visit this site off holymeatballs.org for snapshots and information about the party! Bellow is the interview, also up on holymeatballs.org

Storm: Hello Tecno Tiger Welcome to the Global Kids Interview.
Tecno: Hey!
Storm: Thanks for taking part in this interview.
Tecno: No problem, i'm happy to help out other GK supports in anyway i can.
Storm: Thanks, nice to know.
Storm: Okey
Storm: Did you enjoy the party yesterday at the Global Kids Island?
Tecno: Well i enjoyed the time that i was there, i came late, but i was still able to see that it had been a great party, and heard great things from people i talked to afterwards who attended the whole thing :) I really regret missing some of it.
Storm: Ahh well at least you went
Storm: What was your best part at the party?
Tecno: Just knowing i'm with people who also support GK and having fun dancing with them :) I hope theres another party in the future.
Storm: Oh there will be one sometime next week hopefully or the week after we will do it on a week day as well so the gkid's can come.
Tecno: That would be great!
Tecno: Having GKids there as well.
Tecno: They'd be happy to see so many people belive in what GK stand for.
Storm: Indeed.
Storm: How can we make the parties better?
Tecno: The partys are great allready, but i guess a larger range of people could come if there where sections for people who lag easily.
Storm: You mean more land?
Tecno: Well an island is enough land, just using it all and dividing it to different sections so theres a larger rang of activities, meaning more people will come.
Storm: Yeah
Storm: You know any good activities then that we can buy?
Storm: We had games like Tin Bling's Word Hex and Ask Linden
Storm: And we had that cool bouncy house and thanks to blue linden who had that cool BBQ set and Pizzas.
Tecno: Well doing things like 'Word spill' and 'Teengo' would be fun. More group games. I have a Teengo board i'ld be happy to lend out for free for the event.
Tecno: Ha that BBQ would of gone well with Barry's cake.
Storm: Lol
Storm: Well how much does Word Spill cost?
Tecno: I'm not sure, around L$2000. You'll have to ask Bob Bailly.
Storm: We where going to play teengo but my buddy was not on.
Tecno: Well it's something to do next time.
Storm: Do you think the music people was playing good or bad due to lag?
Tecno: Well you can't have a party with out music. If people have a problem with it lagging there Second Life, they can easily just turn it off and play music using somthing like iTunes.
Storm: Yeah or there music player to listen to Linden Radio.
Tecno: yeah! Thats what i do, i love hearing the interviews
Storm: Yeah
Storm: You think it would be a good idea to do one big raffle for three winners or loads of little ones for everyone to win.
Tecno: I think a raffle with 3 winners would be better, because when your advertising you can tell people the amount they have a chance of winning. So with 3 people the amount of L$ that each of them would be higher than if there where loads of runner up prizes ect.
Storm: Do you think we should buy a Word Spill board?
Storm: If we do more events then we can do it though the week aswell.
Tecno: Well you could do something at the party, like have GK related merchandise for sale, to raise money towards getting things that will benefit GK or the island, and a word spill board would do this.
Storm: Yeah
Storm: Fancy building some like cars and t-shirts and bands ect?
Tecno: Yeah i'ld be more than happy to do this, i've all ready started workin on that badge.
Storm: Nice
Storm: Well is there anything else you would like to say?
Tecno: Not really, just thanks for organising these partys, i hope i can work with you in the future to make GK Island a better place, and benefit the organization.
Storm: Sure.
Storm: Well thankyou for coming to the Gloabl Kid's Party and Letting me interview you.
Tecno: No problem, speak to you soon!

Don't be mad!
Release of TecOS1 has been withheld AGAIN. I'm really sorry to people who have been waiting for this, but recent bugs allowing people to withdraw more money in there account then they have has proven hard to tackle. I'm in half term this week, so i'll have alot of time to spend on working with this. Stay posted for the date of an upcoming TecOS1 demonstration some time next month!

BBC Has Had A Second Life Island For Over A Year Now!

After reading this BBC news article recently, I found out that the BBC (British Broadcasting Company) owned an island in Second Life. Not only that, but they've had one for over a year! "Radio 1 has only rented its island for one year." The reason everyone is talking about it at the moment is because Radio 1 are hosting there first gig. Unfortunately, no TG resident will be able to go, but Blue Linden has given us virtual BBC Radios to listen with. (See picture above). The radios are mainly for show, as they don't actually play music, they have two buttons at the top, where you chose what format you want your web browser to stream Radio 1 (E.g Real Player).

"Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles has been recreated in Second Life". They have done quite a good job! Chris Moyles HAS to be the best Radio 1 DJ, although I only get to listen to his show up to the first news before I have to leave home! Still, they keep all shows on the site for, I think, a week.
"There maybe opportunities to have people like Justin Timberlake on spaces like this," OMG Justin?!!? Seriously, Radio 1, you can do better then that!
"One US Dollar is approximately equivalent to L$ 250" Not any more :/
The Radio 1 weekend in Second Life isn't over yet, so MG residents still have a chance of getting down there, so off you pop!

Remember, it's just a game. Or is it?
I've been playing Second Life since November 2005. As you probably know Second Life is a huge 3D world where people can do more or less anything they want to. There comes a stage though, where Second Life is no longer a game. Think about it, it's not computers your talking to in-game. It's other, real people, from all over the world. There are no levels, just like real life, everyone (excepting staff) are equal.
There is a huge population, over 215,747 residents at the time of this post, although only 107,064 have logged in within the last 60 days. People who have met on Second Life, have gotten married in-world, and in the Real world as well. Some have even moved country to be with someone they met over this program. This is a lot more social then a game.
Money is a big one. At the time of this post, $31,437.00 has been spent today using Second Life. Yes, that's right, USD. Not L$, the Second Life currency, real money, and it's only mid-day. Some MG residents make enough money off Second Life to make it there full time job. Soon the money I make off Second Life will be used to pay for the internet access for my whole family.
All the definitions of 'Game' that I've looked at clearly state that there HAS to be a winner, or it is not a game. That's why I, and others, strongly believe Second Life can no longer be called a game. Second Life has resulted with people getting married in real-life and in-game, people making real-money, and making friends!
With the huge range of things you can do in Second Life, there are no real rules, another thing that every 'game' has. Being able to talk to friends from all over the world within Second Life makes you feel your a lot closer to them than if you did it using an IM program. Being able to build with amazing tools, script, upload textures and make animations make this resident created world a great place to be!

Grid Update Delayed
As i logged on to Second life this morning i was expecting my computer to tell me i needed to update my Second life client, but this never happend. I asumed it was a bug and IMed a Linden about it. They then informed me that the update had been delayed! :O

In the interest of ensuring that we continue to improve the Second Life experience for all of our users, we have decided to temporarily postpone the release of 1.9.1. We will continue to release updated versions of 1.9.1 on the preview grid for testing.

The follwing quote is from This thread in the TG forums!. Posted by Karen Linden

Second Life 1.9.1 release scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, 2006
In order to improve the Second Life experience, we plan to upgrade to version 1.9.1 on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 (pending final verification of all issues). Second Life will be unavailable from 7am to 12pm PT/SLT. A client software update will be required to use this version.

TecOS1 Deadline Now Set
TecOS1, (My latest project), shall be finished by 3rd of June . This is the date that it is certain it will be done, but it might also come out early if i mange to fix problems quickly. Part of the reason that the deadline is around a month away is the fact that i wanted to make some applications before the release, so that people could save money by buying TecOS1 in a package with applications. This release won't be the finished version, many updates will take place to make it even better. Sorry for the wait, but i promise it will be well worth it!

Shy Guy!
A few minutes ago, i was floating around the sandbox, and i found a building just above cloud level, with a number of people in. I, (being my nosey self), decided to go in and take a look. What i saw made be laugh straight away :D Look at the picture, it's a load of people with Shy Guys avatars, and i was automatically given a group invite and a Shy Guy av. Keep a look out for them!

I had to post this!
Anyone remember the GK Awards Ceremony? Well some of what i said there was logged, and i don't even remember saying it, but Blue was trying to get everyone quite, and so i decided to quote Austin powers;
Staff GKid: Hey everybody! Please join us over at the stage, and take a seat so we can get started! :)

Alister Harrington shouts: If Weden doesn't get a positive attitude in about 30 seconds I'm OUT of here.
Tecno Tiger bites lip
Blue Linden: okay that's it....now you've done it....I'm going to have to Shush people
Weden Cooper: Alister... nobody asked for your opinion :)
Paulix Hasp: o.o
Tecno Tiger: lol
Blue Linden: SHUSH UP!
Smith Massiel: evryone shut up
Jackson Widget: please stop chatting, i am lagging badly
Kit Axon shuts up. even though she wasnt talking.
Lori GKid: Aright thanks for helping me out guys!
Jaz Impfondo: :)
Tecno Tiger: www.zipit.com
Lori GKid: Just want to explain what's about to happen
Weden Cooper: Hah, the yanks won't shut up in the crowd.
Tocharaeh Wake: HI LACOREY
Tecno Tiger: exZIPET A

Try googling your SL name, and see what comes up. The only other site i'm on is TSLE, and this blog isn't appearing yet either :p

Yet Another TG Island!
Amzingly, there are now three TG users owning Islands! The latest island is owned by Brooke Barmy, and is called Unreal! I had a quick game of Connect 4 there with Bob, and then was forced to log-off :/ From what i saw, it looked like a very nice place, it wasn't completelly filled with stalls/appartments like other sims i have seen. As quoted from the thread bellow, "Just a friendly place to hang out" and from what i saw in the short time i was there, it did indeed seem like a "friendly place to hang out" :)http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=104102
